The Glen Shields Futbol Club's mandate is to achieve a balance among good sportsmanship, leadership skills, fair play and commitment to fair competition. Our mission is to fulfill our player's needs by becoming an organization committed to excellence and advancement in the discipline of soccer. Our goals are to create an active and healthy community by focusing on children and youth in harmony with Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model to reduce childhood obesity and inactiveness within our community.

GFC operates a house league comprising of 70 teams (approximately 1,100 members). It also runs a competitive soccer program for 30 teams (approximately 700 members). It holds an annual soccer tournament on Canada Day and is also a partner in the annual international COVI soccer tournament held in Vaughan.

GFC operates a soccer academy for its members which provides training for volunteer coaches, referees and SAT preparation. There are 1,800 boys and girls ages 4 to 21 involved in the GFC house league and competitive programs. There are currently 285 volunteers involved in running our programs and we generally serve the Thornhill/Concord community.

We interact with the local Community in the following ways:

  • Canada Day Festival: involve the community in Canada Day celebrations.
  • Participate in Community events by providing our local soccer teams for exhibition games.
  • Provide free coaching clinics to the community.
  • Charitable organizations: donate used clothing and equipment to needy children.
  • COVI: we work with three other soccer organizations within the City of Vaughan to offer this province-wide competitive tournament.
